WTF WEDNESDAY: First day back

Hello my dears,
Today was my first day back at school. It's so sad! New professors, new classes, none of my same friends from class. What is even sadder is that I really don't feel like trying to get to know people. It takes too many smiles and too much effort. BUT if I plan on making friends I guess I will have to pull out my bag of smiles and use one every now and then.

This semester I have Trigonometry, Psychology, Biology, and History. I am on the waiting list for my Media Writing Class. The one class I NEED and I'm on the waiting list, perfect, right?

Can someone take me back to Winter Break where all I did was work and sleep? Those were the days! And to think I was actually excited to get back to this....*sigh*.

Welp! It is only the first day and I know it will get better. I just have to dive into it and have a positive attitude.

On another topic, did you guys hear the news? Ciara is pregnant with rapper Future's baby! There were rumors of course but I couldn't get myself to believe it until I saw it. I am a little tiny bit shocked because they just got married, but then again nowadays what celebrity ISN'T moving fast?

Ciara looks beautiful though and we all know I love Future, so I am happy for them!

I just hope things will feel better for me tomorrow! *Fingers crossed* Maybe I will start to like this change.

After all, I did promise myself that this semester will be more eventful than the last. So I have got to make that happen!

Good luck to all te other students back at school!

xoxo

Happy Monday!

Hello dears,

Today is the dreaded Monday, for you. Unlike most of you I am not in school right now and I don't have a 9-5 job either! Welllll...I do have work tonight at 5, but I still got to sleep in later than you all so HA! I am really going to have to get my normal sleeping schedule back in place because this whole going to sleep at 5 or 6 in the morning and waking up at three is not going to go well when school starts back up.

Today, I have no big announcements and no major lessons. I am simply blogging to be more consistent! This is all a part of my New Year Resolution on making my blog better. The more I blog, the better, right? So, here I am!

Last night while searching for Beyonce's newest songs from her surprise album, I realized how little of the songs are actually on YouTube. She really made sure you buy her album in order to have your ears blessed with the greatness of her songs. So like millions of other people, I surrendered and went to Walmart and bought her album. Sure I could have bought the album on Itunes and had it downloaded straight to my phone, but I wanted to be able to say I had the actual CD.

After I got home last night, I put away my groceries, pulled out my laptop, and put the disc that said VISUAL in first. I was so excited that there was a whole disc full of her music videos. But I mean, this is Beyonce we are talking about, what should I have expected?

Now, I have got to be honest. I thought it would be a LITTLE more exciting and up-beat, but I still appreciate how she went all out with it. What makes this album different is that she is not holding back in any way about her sex life with her man. She really is proving to everyone that she is a grown woman, with a real relationship, and a beautiful child.

My top fives from the album have to be:
1. Drunk in Love

2. Mine

3. Partition

4. Flawless

5. No Angels

The visual album is flawless and I wouldn't change a thing. She looks great in EVERY single look they did. I love this new confident sexy being she is becoming! Welp! I think it is safe to say she still has me as one of her biggest fans. I will forever and always love her!

That is all!

The Perfect Boyfriend

The "perfect" boyfriend.

He is something we all wish we had. He is the Edward from Twilight, the Derek from Grey's Anatomy, the Noah from The Notebook.  The perfect boyfriend is sexy and strong yet soft when it comes to his touch. Tv shows, romance novels, and movies often make it hard for us girls to distinguish fantasy from reality. If you go through life searching for a Ryan Goseling or a Channing Tatum you will find yourself in your one bedroom apartment with 16 cats, 4 fish, and a gerbil.

Now, I would never encourage you to settle. I believe we are Queens and we deserve nothing less than a king. BUT your eyes may decieve you....the hottest guy isn't always the best guy for you. I have come up with a list of traits YOUR perfect boyfriend should have. THIS should be the guideline you use the next time your Mr. Wrong comes along ( you like how that rhymed?)

1) Listen to the butterflies!
It may not be love at first sight, but the butterflies in your stomach will give you the answer. You should be excited to see him or hear from him. It should be an excited nervousness, not a nervousness to where you feel like you have to act like something you're not.

2) Your number one cheerleader
He should be your number one supporter in every decision you make. He should back you up and encourage you to be the best YOU you can be. Just as you would be there for a game of his or a performance, you should expect the same support from him.

3) What does your mama say?
Chances are if your family doesn't like him, he's not the one. Your family sees things that you won't always see. Love is truly blind and the sweet heart you may think you are dating may be the jerk who will break your heart. If your family doesn't like him, hear them out. Listen to their reasoning, they only want the best for you.

4) Are you HIS main priority?
Behind family, of course, you should be his main priority. Time with you and making you happy should be his main focus. Video games and friends should come second or third.

5) R-E-S-P-E-C-T
This is a huge thing in relationships! He should respect your values, morals, wants, and needs. At all times! BUT he can only do these things if you make clear what you expect from him, so make sure you make these things clear and there is complete communication.

6) Your own personal comedian
What is a relationship without laughter? You should be able to laugh and joke around with each other and not always having to take each other too seriously. There will be hard times and good times in a relationship, but if you're not able to laugh during the hard times, you most likely wont make it through together.

7) Don't try too hard
If you feel your boyfriend isn't giving the relationship enough effort, that needs to be discussed. You shouldn't have to to TRY to make him love you. Love is effortless. There should be nothing forced.

8) Loyalty
Let's be real. Guys are dogs and like the good dogs, your guy should be loyal. Unless you're all about the whole "free love" thing where you and your guy can be free to have as many partners as desired then your man should be loyal. When it comes to cheating, there are no excuses. Whether you forgive him, it is up to you. Whether you take him back, it is up to you. But if you want the "perfect" boyfriend...that man does not cheat.

Nobody is perfect, but YOUR ideal guy should follow this guideline completely. Every girl has their own wants, so you may have some more traits that you want from a guy and that is fine! Just understand that your man may not look like a celebrity, but when your guy is good to you and checks a yes on the things above....you got a keeper girl!

Personally, my lovely boyfriend of a year+ checks a HECK YES on all of these things! I wouldn't encourage you guys to have a checklist for your Mr. Perfect if I hadn't already found mine.

I love you ladies! Remember, your Mr. Right will find you. Keep the fairy tales and movies in the books and the movie theatres!

Happy New Year

It's a new year!
I am so thankful for all of the things I have been blessed with and one of them being my wonderful blog and my lovely readers! So hats off to you guys because I love you!

I have totally been off with my writing and I apologize for that. Not only have I been in total relaxation mode, but every time I attempted to blog my lap top would act up on me. I would get so frustrated I wanted to punch through my laptop and throw it across the Barnes & Nobles! So here I am back at it again, with a little more patience and my IPad instead.

Last year was great for my blog. After all, I had just started it in the Summer of 2013. Now, here we are in the Winter of 2014 still going strong. This year I want things to be even GREATER for Cynthea Says and my lovely readers. I've been brainstorming a lot on ways I could make this more exciting for all of us. Things will definitely be changing around here on Cynthea Says and I am very excited!

For now, lets talk about New Year Resolutions. Do people still write those anymore? I do! Every year since I was able to write I have made my list of goals I plan to achieve before the new year comes. Last year I accomplished 4 out of 7. Yay me! (Kinda) This year I plan to accomplish them all! Now, I feel like if I show them all to you guys I will have no choice other than to make sure I accomplish them! So, here they are. (Try not to laugh)

Cynthea's New Year Resolutions for 2014
1) get drivers license already!
2) do a pageant
3) improve on blog views and reader base
4) travel to an unfamiliar place
5) get into sorority of choice
6) treat hair with healthiest treatments possible
7) get an internship and/or scholarship
8) be brave! no more being afraid of the unknown
9) be welcoming to change

Okay guys, there it is. If I come up with more things I'll make sure to add it to the list. And I'll also write about everything I have on this list when it is achieved! I'm pretty confident I can make these things happen. What are your new year resolutions? I'd love to see them! Maybe I can steal some ideas! I love you all and please stay tuned for what else is to come!

It's My Birthday Month!

Hello my lovely blog world!

Have I ever told you all how much I truly love winter and the month of December? December isn't just wonderful because it's the month of Christmas, but because it was the month that a 5 foot 10 inches, amazing, talented woman was born....ME! (okay, maybe that was a little on the conceited side, huh?)

Fun Fact: My birthday is on Christmas Eve. I was expected to fly out of my mom on New Year's Eve, but instead I made an early arrival on Christmas eve.

Last year, I was so excited for my birthday because I was turning the big 18! Now, I'm leaving the young age of 18 and heading towards 19. I don't know why but I feel like there is a big difference between 18 and 19. Maybe its the idea that once you turn 18, you're officially an adult. Then, when you turn 19, you're getting ready to leave your teen years and that makes me sad! I'm most likely going to be the woman that cries when she turns 30....yeah, that's definitely going to be me. I'll watch 13 Going on Thirty, eat some Haagen Dazs, and have a tissue box on my lap. *sigh*

But for now, I'm young! I'm only turning 19. These are the years before real life really starts, so I gotta live it up while I'm young, right? Now, what are my plans you ask? Ummm, that part is undecided. But the first event will be tonight. I set up a dinner with a group of my close college friends tonight at one of my favorite restaurants...PF Changs! Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, everyone is freaking out about finals, has reviews, or is heading home early for Christmas Break so only a few will be able to make it.

Don't get me wrong, I love my birthday, I think it is special, but every year stuff like this happens. I always have to celebrate my birthday early with my friends and some years it works out, but some times it doesn't. December is the month for family and tests and everything else time consuming, so this month rarely works out in my birthday's favor!

After tomorrow, I will be on Christmas Break! Praise God, it is finally here! I have been so freaking anxious to finally relax for a decent amount of time, sheesh! I will be heading home to my dear mommy, relaxing, and celebrating. Again, I'm really not sure what I want to do for my birthday...I have an idea that consists of a lot of being pampered, stuffing my face, taking pictures, and looking good while doing it all. Sounds good to me! What do you think?

I guess now would be the time to get to my studying for my last final of the semester....
On that note, too-da-loo my dears!

WTF WEDNEDAY: Finals Week

Hello everyone!
So I have most definitely been flaking on my blog. This is supposed to be my baby, my little best friend. I need to show it more attention, I know! So here I am, giving it my full attention!

Today's WTF Wednesday topic is on my first week of college finals. It truly is as horrible as people say it is. Finals come right after Thanksgiving Break and right before Christmas Break, it's like the evil in between two very happy times!

Now, I must admit that I really was not prepared for these finals like I wish I was. I waited until just this weekend to start studying and I have been cramming like cray-cray. Speaking of which, I need to begin my cramming for my next exam tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning! Like WTF? Who's brain can actually do the translations and conjugations necessary for Spanish at 7:30 in the morning? NOT MINE, that's who's.

My Finals & Study schedule:
Monday: Mass Communications (study for Math)
Tuesday: Math (study for History)
Wednesday: History (study for Spanish)
Thursday: Spanish (study for Art)
Friday: Art (run like a crack head and get the HECK out of this place!)

I have literally been studying for my exams the day before the exam takes place. I would never suggest this because studying this way has side effects! Major ones! Sleep loss, caffeine head aches, anxiety attacks, crying sessions, and contemplating between continuing this or being a stripper. (Don't act like you haven't thought about it before!)

So far, my exams have all been a success and the studying and side effects have all been worth it. So to answer your question, I will not be a stripper. Don't worry!

To my college family going through this horrid time:
You can do this! You are already more than half way there and before you know it, you will be home with your family celebrating the holiday season. Now, stop reading this and get to your studies!

Good luck!

Pageant Stories

Hello my dears!
I'm not too sure why, but recently I have had pageants on the brain! I guess it may be because I was looking at my New Year Resolutions and one of them says "Do a pageant." I ALMOST went through with one, but then something told me not to. It was probably the fact that it was short notice and I was swamped in college work, so um... nah! Eventually though, I DO want to do another one. I love 'em!

Pageants are something that you either love or you hate. Also, a lot of people have misconceptions about pageants! It's not all about little fat kids covered in make-up. Pageants include interviews, on-the-spot questions about the world, and community service. You have to have beauty AND brains.

Now, I have been on both sides of the spectrum in pageants. I have only done two pageants and for my first one I was crowned queen, for the other, I was given a gift bag and shooed away. You win some, you lose some!

My first pageant was very exciting. I had never had a "pageant dress" or understood the difference between a pageant walk and a model walk and all of the other things pageant related. This pageant was held at my school and there was only one outfit and one walk and that was Evening wear. There was no interview, no on-the-spot questions, nothing complicated! My category consisted of some juniors and some seniors.

I had no idea how to feel about winning or losing, I just wanted to do well. But I did want that tiara! I mean, who wouldn't? Before I went up on the stage all I could think was "Cynthea, do NOT fall, smile, and keep that eye contact with the judges!" So once I got on the stage, that's exactly what I did. I kept the eye contact, smiled the whole time even when my cheeks were shaking, and fought through the stage-fright (Yes! I have stage-fright...bad!) After every girl goes, the judges finish up with their scoring and call all of the girls up for one last look. This time you're a little more relaxed because you've already had your time in the spot light. You just have to give the judges that reassurance that they should make you queen. They ask all the girls to turn a couple times and they get their last looks at the dresses and that's it!

After all of that is done....it is time for the crowning. The moment that everybody is there for. I was so nervous and tried to keep my smile up because I didn't want to look like a poor sport if I wasn't crowned or given anything. And I sure wasn't! I didn't get anything until the only thing was left. It was between myself and another girl. At that moment, I thought, "Wow, I really didn't get anything...after all of this. It's okay, relax!" Then the announcer says, "This years 2011 Christmas Belle Queen is....Cynthea Corfah!" My mom screamed so loud! It was truly one of the best moments of my life so far. They put the tiara on my head, handed me flowers, and it was just great. All the hard work, practice, and nervousness just becomes completely erased.

About less than a year later, I was nominated by my school to do a local pageant. My high school had only ever won once, so that was a bit nerve wracking but I was confident! Little did I know this pageant was a whole new ball park. There was so much that you needed to have and that you had to do! I had come from little baby pageant to the big leagues! For this one there was casual wear, evening wear, an interview portion, a dance routine, and payments that were ridiculous in my mind.

This time around, if anything could wrong, it did! I couldn't afford a dress so I had to sew on rhinestones one by one onto my first pageant dress. I felt that I needed to take it up a notch if I really wanted a shot at winning! Also, the theme of the casual wear was "Western." Western! I mean, seriously? I am a tall, black girl, from the Washington D.C. area and they wanted me to wear cowboy boots.... *face palm.* Then, my mom was gone all month on duty (she is in the military.) So everything that had to be gathered and done, would be all my responsibility.

The day of the pageant, everything started out swell. I had my interview and I felt like it went great! (Little did I know I was getting points taken off for not having my nails done, and the metallic tint of my suit...yes, the judges look at E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.) After the interview, things started getting tough. There were issues with my makeup and I ended up running late...real late. So late that I ran into the building of the pageant, put on my outfit and at that moment I had to go up on stage and do the dance. It was cray-cray. THEN, to make things even worse, my body wanted to act all anorexic on me and my dress was slipping right off my body. My black bra would not stop showing from the back, so the ladies back stage told me to take it off, so I did! I went on stage braless! Terrified that once I was up there my dress would fall to my ankles revealing all of my goodies!

Once I was on stage and doing my thing, everything felt so right. I was confident in both of my walks and very proud of myself for doing all these things by myself. I thought to myself, whatever happens...happens. The end of the pageant came around and it was time for the crowning. I looked out into the crowd only to see my boyfriend and my best friend. I really wished my mom was there so she could flash me a funny face and make the nervousness go away. Awards were given out and I just thought, there is no way I will leave here empty handed, there is just no way! Award after award after award....no Cynthea. And then, they announced the top five....again, no Cynthea. My heart sunk on the inside, but I smiled on the outside, I knew how the pageant game was and I didn't want to show that I was hurting on the inside.

That night as I laid in bed, I replayed everything. From my interview to my last step on the stage. I just kept thinking and asking myself what I did wrong.

Weeks later I received my scores in the mail. I was surprised to see both the scores and the criticism! They were not low scores, not at all! So that gave me a little relief, but it was the criticism that had me in disbelief.
One said, "Need to cover bruising better." Biggest insult considering I have eczema and my stress during the time of the pageant didn't help the flaring up.
"Nails are not manicured." That one really sucked because I literally got my nails done right after the interview. Another said, "Suit needs to have a matte finish." For this one, I was like really? C'mon now.

That whole eczema comment has kinda been my drive to keep going. I know that I can't stop there! I was born with eczema and I'll have it till who knows when, it is dry flaky skin patches that look horrible. I hate it, but I live with it, and I don't let it dull my shine. I want to be a pageant queen that is far from perfect, but has flaws that she can flaunt and be proud of, because no one likes a Dalmatian without it's spots.

#ThrowItBackThursday

Hello dears!
I know I have been horrible with blogging lately and I totally have been skipping my WTF Wednesday blogs. Lo siento mis amigos! So, as I'm sitting here doing this horrible Spanish homework I am jammin' to "Honest" by Future on Pandora. Oh! I have not discussed my small obsession with Future yet, have I? WELLLL, for those of you who live under a rock Future is not only my husband but a rapper. His hit song was "Turn on the Lights." If you haven't heard it before, take a second, and slap yourself right across the face. Okay, after you slap yourself you can watch this video and listen to my dear husband rap/sing about looking for me. (:

Okay, back to the blog! As much as I'd like to dedicate a whole blog to Future, I won't (not yet). This blog IS about music though and a few of the songs I've been jammin' to...or "throwing it back" to! Music is my life so I'm honestly surprised I haven't done this before. I'll most definitely do it again if YOU, MY READERS, let me know about the songs you are in love with! I can put 'em up here and if you say something about them I can include that too! I've been loving some of the feed back I have been getting by the way. You guys are the ones that keep me writing, seriously.

Quick shout out to the lovely ladies who sent me these! I love you guys. <3 Your feedback is amazing.

All I Want for Christmas is a Pair of Balls

Yeah, I know...the title of this entry is a bit vulgar, huh? Sorry if I offended anyone but you shouldn't be reading this blog if you weren't ready for the real stuff! So boo hoo! When I said I want balls for Christmas I didn't mean that after Christmas I plan on changing my gender, what I mean is that I really need to take my own advice and start being more assertive. It really is true when they say the nice guys finish last! My whole life people have always described me as "nice." Although nothing is wrong with that, if being "nice" means that I get taken advantage of and stepped on, then I don't want to be it.
I'm that one friend who supports you throughout everything EVEENNN when you and I both know you are in the wrong. I'm that one friend who you tell all of your secrets to because you know you can trust me. I'm also that one friend you can laugh with, dance with, and cry with all in the same night. I mean, I'd really like to think that I'm one heck of a friend! The sad thing is....for us girls its often hard for us to find that one friend for US.
Now, trust me this is not my way of having a pity party but it IS my way of documenting that a change has to happen. And when I write it down, it makes it a whole lot easier to slap in my face and do it. Although I am in college now, girls still play the same mind-games they did in high school and I don't want to go throughout the rest of my life being the way I always have been. Living my life on egg shells, afraid to hurt feelings, avoiding confrontation, aiming to please everyone I feel is depending on me. Note to self: the world will go on with or without you. People will continue to live just the way they were before you came along. And it's true!
So, in relation to the title of this entry, I will aim to have my balls BEFORE Christmas, so Santa won't have to waste his time getting them from...wherever he would get balls from...

To make it official, I will write a public letter to myself with a list of the accomplishments and things I will work on by Christmas. Will I have friends after this change happens? THAT, I cannot promise! But the ones who really love me for me will accept the change and respect it. For the others....don't let the door hit you on  your back side biznitch!

Dear Self,
Can you please try manning up a little bit? I mean seriously, you are letting these people take full control of you! You are way better than that. From here on out, you must and I mean MUST say "no" if you don't want to go somewhere, or do something with someone, or if you literally just can't! You cannot wait on people, slavery is over woman! Listen to your own advice, I mean read your own gosh darn blog if necessary! Why give 100% to a relationship when the other person is only giving 20? No ma'am, not cool. Don't let it happen again. You are a boss! A bad mamma jamma! A five foot, ten inches goddess! So act like it, or else you will spend the rest of your life working under someone else's commands and you will never be satisfied.
You can do this. Stop living in fear! Now, lets grow these balls!

Love,
Cynthea Corfah

A Few Life Lessons from College

Hello friends!
I know I have been M.I.A. from the blogger world, my only excuse is that I have truly been busy and also had a lack of inspiration! But I have found my inspiration. As usual my inspiration this week came from people. You know, when I got to college, I figured I knew everything there is to know about people and that I would be prepared for any and every type of person. Although I still feel that way (insert smiley face) , it doesn't change the type of people I seem to attract...
I'm telling you! I attract the weirdoes, the creeps, the conceited, and the complete b-words. I'm not sure what exactly it is about me that makes people want to tell me their deepest, darkest secrets yet also back-stab me within seconds!
I have been in college for only around 3 months now and I have already been exposed to all the type of people I have listed. I am working on being open-minded to new people, new personalities but to be honest...it's really tough! I mean, not only do I have to waste valuable study time with these people, but it doesn't seem to pay off in the end! So, I have come up with a list of lessons I have learned from the short time I have been here, thanks to the lovely skanks...I mean, ladies I have met!

1) Don't be afraid to say NO.
Temptation is a strong thing! People will always ask you to do things and sometimes these things can interfere with things you KNOW you have to get done. Like tests, due dates, studying. Don't be afraid to say "no" if you have other priorities. Trust me, they won't cry and they will get over it.

2) Make Alternative Plans
Already, I have been ditched THREE times! People make plans with me and then somehow there is a lack of communication and something happens to where our plans don't work out. In reality, they ditched me. What made it more and more frustrating about each time was the fact that I was depending on that ONE plan to work out and when it didn't work out I had no Plan B's or C's. You have to be prepared for the flakers. The flakers: people who flake on you and always back out on the last minute. Come up with alternative plans with either other people or just be prepared to do something for yourself! There should be no shame in your game. Don't let it ruin your night.

3) If you want to go, GO!
This lesson correlates with my last point in #2. If there is an event going on that interests you and you really want to check it out, don't be afraid to! Even if you're alone. You never know who you will see there or who you will meet! Meeting new people and widening your  circle is always a great thing.

4) Be prepared!
When I say be prepared for everything... I mean it! I'm currently in CC's Coffeehouse taking a break from my reading because I just bought a book yesterday that I was supposed to be reading for class. Cramming like this is horrible because I really don't feel like reading, but because I didn't get the book sooner, I am in this predicament. Also! I'm not doing well in this stupid class because you need like 6 different freaking books and I only had one of them. Soooooo, lesson learned! Do whatever it takes and be prepared for anything so that you can do well.

5) Roommates
I think the first lesson I ever learned in college was that roommates are one of the most important choices you will ever make during your time there. They either work out or they don't. And just because you know the person ( or think you do ) doesn't mean it will be the best decision. Choose wisely! Ask them questions ahead of time, get to know them, and make an agreement with them on certain apartment/dorm things that could potentially be an issue. You guys have to have an understanding with each other when it comes to payments, cleanliness, and boundaries. You have any questions for them or expectations? Make sure you ask them and discuss these expectations! Things can get really bad, really fast.

I think that is all for now, but I'm sure I will have more! College is a jerk, a big one at that! It's tough, its crazy, but a lot of us have waited our whole lives to get here. So enjoy it. (:

WTF WEDNESDAY: The Job Interview & Kim K

What up though?! You know what day it is! We're back at it guys, its WTF Wednesday! Well, so far my week has been alright. Today has started off with a blah feel. It was a struggle to get up this morning and when I got to school every one seems to be irritating me. (Sorry guys) But I know that after some time with my dear blog, I will feel all better!
Let's talk about this Kim K & Kanye West thing first! So he has proposed!
Kanye West’s union with Kim Kardashian is a match made in prenup lawyers’ heaven. But oddsmakers and some celeb watchers don’t expect it to last long.
I mean, it's not like I'm surprised or anything. They have a child for goodness sake! BUT then again, she literally just got through a divorce from NBA player, Kris Humphries, but hey! This is celebrity world, they can do stuff like that. Sources have reported that her ring is around 8 million dollars. Talk about a rock! 8 million though? I guess that's just the type of money you have to shell out when you're Kanye, but sheesh, that's mouths that can be fed, houses that can be built, a car (or a couple really) all placed on one little finger.
WTF?
Okay, well Kim and Kanye's engagement is already getting enough press, so I'll just stop right there so we can talk about me and my WTF situation.
The Interview
Wednesday, of last week, I saw some information on the white board in one of my classes. It said, "Good pay! Now hiring students!" and listed a number and website. I've been looking for a job after my job as a cashier at Barnes & Nobles quickly ended (No, I didn't do anything crazy. It was a temporary job). So I thought that little message on the white board was a sign! My boyfriend says I often take stupid things as signs, but I really did think it was! So as soon as I got out of the class I got on my phone, went to the website, and applied. I felt accomplished!
A few hours later, I got a call from a woman from the company I had applied for and she said she wanted to ask me a few questions. For a second I wasn't sure if I was talking to a prerecorded message or a real person because she felt the need to say my name in every statement she made.
She asked, "How did you find out about us CYNTHEA?" I answered. Then she asked, "Do you go to school CYNTHEA?" I answered. Then she said, "Well CYNTHEA, I am glad you chose our company..." and blah blah blah. She gave me the information about where to go, when to be there, and how to dress. That was it! My interview was scheduled for the next day. Quick, huh? Yeah, for a reason!
Thursday came along and I was all excited! I was excited because I knew I would finally be getting a job and Lord knows I needed it! My mom warned me, jobs like this are usually salesmen jobs and that I'll probably have to call people and do stupid work, but I figured I'd find out anyway. They emphasized on being on time, so I tried to be early, but I ended up getting there the exact time it was scheduled which was good enough for me!

My spiffy little outfit

I enter the building feeling all spiffy in my cute little professional outfit I had came up with moments before the interview and was seated in a quiet room with two other girls. One of the girls said she had an emergency call and never came back (now that's a sign!) Then a guy came in  a few moments after she left. So there was three of us. We went through this whole long, stretched out interview process where we filled out an application and had to wait for the managers to come speak to us.
Finally the lady who would be doing the interview came in and told us about the company...and well...yeah. Do you know what I had applied for ladies and gentlemen? A company that sales knives.....KNIVES!

You get paid by the appointment, not by the hour, and you have to find your own customers, and overall it was just a FAIL of a job. Trying to be positive about the whole situation, I decided that I would simply take this as a learning experience and I figured at least I was getting interview practice! We were told that at the end of the interview only one of us would get the job. At this point, I really didn't care if I got the job or not, I didn't want it! We were each called into her office to find out the results and how our interview went. When she called my name, I was not a bit of nervous. I walked into her office, she made me answer a few more questions, ya know, "Why should you get this job?" and blah blah blah. Of course I had to make up a bunch of stuff. But... it worked! She stood up, reached for my hand, I shook it, and she said I got the job.

Like really? The one job I did not want, I get?! Why must this world play with my life this way?
To put the cherry on top, after I was done I was expecting my boyfriend to pick me up but because of work duties...he couldn't. So, I walked approximately 3 er so miles home in the humidity all the way home. The next day, I called the company and told them I wouldn't be taking the job (Obviously). Oh what a night that was. A true WTF moment at its finest.

Lesson to take from this: Find out what EXACTLY you're applying for, before you do!

My Weekend+

Hello loves,

Let's catch up! You haven't heard from me since Wednesday and I've actually done a few things worth talking about since then, so let's chat! We'll start from Saturday!
Saturday
A couple of weeks ago I signed up to get emails from this volunteer group at my school and Friday I got an email for my first volunteer event that I would go to on Saturday. I was very excited! They said we would be going to a homeless children's shelter doing some yard work with them, getting to know them and the facility, and teach them a bit about nutrition. When we were heading there I was expecting a bunch of sad and poor children with big puppy-dog eyes like from those depressing commercials. Instead, there were only 3 kids and they were definitely not little.
The first boy I met said he wanted to go to college in Alabama, not at LSU, and listed all of the sports he had played with a smile on his face. He helped with the yard work and pulled out the tough roots for me. He was polite, kind, and I  just couldn't see what he was doing in this place! After the yard work, I was taking the bags to the dumpster and one of the boys who lived there offered to take it for me. I could tell from the second I met him he was one of those heart-breakers at his school, but he was sweet. Then, after the yard work, I met the only girl. She seemed distant, but once you got to talking, she quickly spoke her mind like you had been best friends for years. I could tell she just wanted some friendship, some female attention. She talked about her favorite rapper and how she can twerk, it was quite hilarious.
I really enjoyed my time their with those kids, they were so inviting and all they needed was some love and good parenting, or in heart-breaker's case: a girlfriend. Yeah, he asked me for my number! I thought it was funny that a 16 year-old was asking me out, just to find out he was 13! What are they feeding these kids?
After my eventful couple hours volunteering I got home, went to my bed and laid there...for hours. I'm not sure if it was me being tired from the yard-work, or if I was just drained from the week overall, but I didn't want to get up! So later that night I got this sudden burst of energy and cleaned everything in the house and did a bit of decorating. My room is a work in progress so there is always something to add!
I got them to go with my vintage theme

Sunday
This day was like a perfect Fall day! It was nice and crisp outside, I had my laptop, and I went to a coffee shop. It was lovely. I went to this cute little (not actually little) coffee shop right off campus. It's really like a writer's heaven. I had just gotten my chai tea and chocolate muffin and sat down at the bar area right next to the window.

As I was settling in, there was this big loud fly buzzing around the window annoying the HECK out of me. I rolled up an old newspaper and WHACKED the stupid thing dead. I felt extremely proud of myself for killing a fly (you know those things are hard to kill) except when I realized where it landed...

Yeah! So I obviously got a new cup of tea and after that nice event, everything was peachy keen!
Monday
Yesterday was a good Monday! A good monday...what is that, right? Mondays are never good! Well, mine surprisingly was! It started with a cute outfit, if I do say so myself, and ended at this paint war called Splatterbeat.

Today
It's Tuesday but has definitely felt like a Monday. It was a struggle waking up, but I've been pretty productive I'd like to think! Can't wait for my bed and I to meet up again.
Well, that is it! All wrapped up in a nutshell! If that wasn't exciting enough for you, its WTF Wednesday tomorrow and WTF Wednesdays are wonderful! So, make sure to come back to me tomorrow.

WTF WEDNESDAYS

Yes! This is me!

Hey Readers!
So I have really enjoyed the feedback I have been receiving from you all! It is because of you all that I have decided to come up with a blog to look forward to every week! I pretty much write whenever I can, but "WTF Wednesdays" are blog entries you can for sure depend on! Now, what are WTF Wednesdays? They will be blog entries that are about something that happened to me, something that is in the media, or it can be stories I get from YOU GUYS. WTF Wednesday blogs are about situations and things that are just messed up or mind blowing, so it will be fun!
Okay, so let's see if I can paint a picture for you guys. So, it's night time and I'm at Walmart with my mom getting some last minute things before she heads back home and I go back to my college apartment. (When she comes to town she blesses me with the gift of food and house-hold items!) I was wearing an old pair of yoga pants, toms, can't remember what shirt, no make-up and just feeling all around bum-ish.
I was in the beauty side looking for whatever I had run out of at home. As I'm leaving the facial soap aisle, I'm approached by two guys. One guy appeared to be maybe in his late 30's, early 40's, it was hard to tell. I guess his few gold teeth and old 50 cent clothing style may have thrown me off. The other guy, well I didn't even really look at him until the end of the story. So let me tell you how this conversation went.

Mr. Gold Teeth: "Excuse me?" He hesitated to explain what he was about to ask for. "Uh, my daughter, uh, it's her time of the month and..."
Me: Laughing, "Yeah, do you need to know where they are?"
Mr.Gold Teeth: "Yeah! Can you show me please?"

Now, let me interrupt this real quick. Usually when  strange guys approach me, I brush them off quickly with a slight smile and keep it going! But this guy, for whatever reason, seemed harmless! He was looking for pads for goodness sake! Okay, anywayssss...

Me: Laughing again, "Yeah, ofcourse!"

So I start scanning the aisles looking for the feminine section as they follow behind me. I don't know why but  I couldn't find the aisle!

Me: "Hmmm...I think I must have passed it!"
Mr.Gold Teeth: Saying under his breath, "Yeah, you passed it."

Then suddenly, like a light bulb, it clicked that this goofy looking, 50 Cent wanna-be, old-enough-to-be-my-father-looking man was staring at my rump! Like, seriously? Who uses their "daughter's time of the month" to try and talk to someone? Boy, bye!

image

Me: "Okay, well I think you know where they are so I hope you find them!"

I smile, turn around, and start walking my butt away from them, but then...

Mr.Gold Teeth: "Wait, wait a second...what's your name?"
Me: Shaking my head, "Nah, I'm too young for you."
Mr.Gold Teeth: "How old are you?...Well then why don't you holla at my son real quick?"

Let me make this clear for you guys. A father and son approached me about feminine items for their daughter just to be creepers and eye-rape me, and THEN the old man tries to talk to me but after realizing I was too young for him he suggests HIS SON to talk to me! WTF?!

After he pointed towards his son, I looked at him laughing with disgust, thinking, "Are these people serious?" Then, his son stepped up and asked how old I was and at that point I just walked away. Once I found my mom in the store and told her what had just happened, she laughed and shook her head and we walked to the register, where Mr. Gold Teeth, his son, and a woman (his daughter maybe?) show up behind us and say nothing.
Lesson of the day: Don't help weirdos looking for pads!

How to Survive Midterms

For a lot of us, this week is known as: Midterm Week.
Midterm week is the week where all the fun in college just STOPS. Your teachers throw this big test at you and expect you to know all of the stuff you have went over so far (which you never do). Sadly, midterms aren't going to just disappear into little particles of glitter, THEY WILL HAPPEN. So the only way to do well on them is to prepare, prepare, prepare! Here is a list just for you (and me) on to survive them!

1) Know your schedule
Find out the order in which your tests take place so you can prioritize. You need to know which test comes first in order to figure out the best way you should study. If you have a planner (which you should) highlight each day you have a test. Then, right down the times each test is scheduled. You don't want to be late or forget about it!

2) Schedule study times
You HAVE to study! Unless you're one of the genius types, you really need to start studying as soon and as much as possible. Whether you're studying in a group or alone, your time needs to be scheduled. You should have a certain amount of time each day that are specifically dedicated to studying and ONLY studying. Use your time wisely and take it seriously.

3)It's okay to be childish!
Bring back the flashcards, highlighters, markers, songs, whatever it takes to memorize the information for the tests! Every time I have a test that has to do with memorization I bring out the flash cards. Sometimes I will even make a song in my head if it's catchy! Don't be embarrassed of your way of studying, because you'll be more embarrassed of the bad grade you get if you don't study.

4) DO NOT CRAM
I know it seems like the easiest thing to do sometimes, or you're just too lazy to study ahead of time, but you HAVE to. As my mom always says, "You never know what will happen tomorrow." It's true! You can't think that you'll save your studying for another day when you really NEVER know what will happen that day. For all you know you may sprain your ankle tomorrow and end up in the hospital, drugged up on medicine, and guess what? No studying for you! So, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT WAIT FOR THE LAST MINUTE.

5) Get your Z's
The night before a big test, all you want to do is make sure you have soaked all the information in like a sponge, I know! But as a human, you need your sleep to function throughout the day. Staying up all night studying is not the productive way of studying. You will perform better after a good night's sleep, trust me!

The Little Things

Today as I was sitting in the library and watching all the life flowing around me, I was suddenly inspired to...walk! I just wanted to walk. Now if you're in college, you know we do a lot of that already, but this time I was walking to look and to see. I just wanted to see the beauty I could find throughout campus. Sounds poetic, right? (I know!) But seriously, things are so different when you're doing them for pleasure. I walk throughout the campus everyday but I never had an eye for the beauty this campus contains! If you don't know already I am a student at Louisiana State University. The school itself is pretty darn great. There is always something to do and so much history behind the tigers and our architecture. Here are just some shots I got while on my walk. All taken with my IPhone 4s by the way!

The view from one of our trees on the Parade Grounds. Throughout campus you will see these HUGE trees that are years and years and years old. They are so beautiful!

"The tower" I guess is what we call it here, I don't know it's exact name. Usually you can be anywhere on campus, look up, see it, and figure out where the heck you are.

I found this sticker on a "One Way" sign and I thought it was artsy. On campus here we have SO many talented and different people, this sticker just makes me wonder about the person that put it there.

These here are dead leaves from a magnolia tree. I personally LOVE magnolias, I remember when I first discovered the tree and the flower in West Virginia and I was so amazed at how big the flowers were, that love still sticks with me. (:

This is a view of "the quad." It is like the outdoor lounge area for everyone. It is located write in between a bunch of buildings and the library. You pretty much have to walk through it to get across campus, at least I do!

This....is just a walk way. Nothing real special, I just liked the shot!

Welp! That is all! I hope my little photographers and photography lovers could appreciate this one. :)
